The 10-year Treasury yield sits near 5%, offering real competition to stocks for the first time in years. The VIX, Wall Street's fear gauge, is 16.9 — below its one-year average of 18.0 — which makes protective put options relatively cheap right now. Use that low cost to buy downside protection on your largest equity positions before volatility returns.
