MSFT Rips 15%, META Craters 8%, and the Market Reminds You That Earnings Season Is a Two-Way Street
Day 5 at a selectively constructive posture

Justification

Today's market is a tale of two earnings reports: MSFT's 15% surge validates AI infrastructure spending while META's 8% drop proves the market will punish any shortfall at these valuations. The forward P/E (price relative to expected earnings) of 20.1x sits in the caution zone, and the 10-year Treasury yield has climbed 11 basis points over 10 sessions, compressing the case for paying up. RSI (a momentum gauge) at 40 on the stress input and VIX (the market's fear gauge) at 17.09 and falling means protective puts are cheap right now — use them. Rotate toward semiconductors and biotech where today's moves created entry points, and keep downside insurance in place while the earnings season sorts winners from losers.

Since the Last Issue

  • RSI (momentum gauge) recovered from the stress-triggering 40.07 used in today's posture computation to 49.04 on the live SPX read — breadth improved but has not cleared neutral.
  • Fear & Greed Index moved from 32 (prior issue) to 39 today, still in Fear territory but the sharpest single-session recovery in recent issues.
  • Technology sector led all sectors at +5.50% while Communication Services lagged at -2.68%, marking the widest intra-day sector spread this week.
  • 10-year Treasury yield added +6bp today to 4.67%, extending the +11bp 10-session climb that contributed directly to today's stress score.
